Sportsbooks Taking Bet Action on the 2012 American Presidential Race

Gambling News - July 11th, 2009 - Written by Glen

Sportsbooks regularly take entertainment bets, and occasionally political bets. With the media attention the presidential campaigns always receives, a bet line was bound to come. And many sportsbooks are doing just that - giving lines on the different presidential candidates. This, like other bets, can be a safe line or a rocky one. Placing a bet too early could lead to ruin, while waiting to the last minute could get you odds you don't want.

Things to remember before placing the bet is that only 12 presidents in the history of the States have served one term. This is a great ratio, considering America has had 43 presidents. This puts Obama's odds firmly at the favored position in most sportsbooks. Anything may happen throughout the next three and a half years, so his tenure may be kept to one term. You will see some familiar names on the list, including Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin, who are the second and third favorites, respectively.

Some predict that Jeb Bush will try to be the third Bush man elected into office, as he is also on most sportsbooks list. John McCain has some of the worst odds, as does Ron Paul, despite an almost occult following. There is plenty of money to be made in politics, and now you could have a piece of the pie through an online sports betting site. Find one with political bets and you are set to hit some cash!
